Kensington Systems worked with Barnwood Construction to provide the blinds at Gloucestershire College’s new Forest of Dean Campus in Cinderford.

Blackout blinds were installed in the laboratories and motorised vertical blinds in all other areas.

Vertical blinds provide greater control over light levels than roller blinds. The motors were fitted with dawn and dusk sensors and connected into the Building Maintenance System, enabling the blinds to close automatically at dusk.

This was necessary to minimise the potential impact of light pollution on bats in the surrounding woodland.

Gloucestershire College has campuses in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cinderford (Forest of Dean). Facilities at the Forest of Dean Campus include purpose-built construction workshops kitted out with industry-standard tools and equipment, as well as new art studios and creative workshops.
